Do I have to sign up for Medicare if I'm not retiring?
If you're still working at 65 and have creditable employer health coverage, you may be able to delay Medicare enrollment without penalty. However, if your employer has fewer than 20 employees, Medicare becomes primary and you should enroll.
Important: You must enroll within 8 months of losing employer coverage to avoid penalties.

What happens if I miss my Medicare enrollment deadline?
Missing your Initial Enrollment Period can result in permanent late enrollment penalties that you'll pay for as long as you have Medicare.
Part B Penalty: 10% for each 12-month period you could have had Part B but didn't enroll.
Part D Penalty: 1% of the national base premium for each month without creditable coverage.
